    My baby...

She truly adores playing make-up and dress-up with "Mama" - can't you tell?

Thanks so much for all the compliments! You're all very sweet.

The hat was made by a friend of mine and she does have a shop on Etsy. It's the Irene Dunne hat (http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction...on_id=10309879). She uses vintage hatblocks, so they do look very authentic.

My hair is about an inch or so above my shoulders when it's not curled.

    Finally tried something!

Thursday was my wedding anniversary. Here's a blog post recapping my adventures in trying to look different than my usual slovenly self:

I think like most ladies here, I had to try several times to get anything useable when doing pincurls. I'm just beginning to get the hang of doing them, I think!

Marzipan, you look very cute with the scarf and braids!

And Red Diabla, your pincurls came out great! I wish that I could do that well, but I have just never mastered it. Foam curlers for me.

Marineabillly - your doggie is adorable with her "do!!"

Scotchwhiskey - wow! l love your look and covet your fabulous eyebrows!!

Marzipan - I think your braids are a great look (and keep the bangs!)

RedDiabla - dang girl, you are definitely getting the hang of pin curls - and bonus points for a great gift idea. My hubby would pass out if I served him a home cooked meal AT the dinner table in high heels! But I really want to see how your Nurse Ratchet look turned out

I hope I didn't miss anyone's post recently - you all look so great!

Scotch: it took some experimentation on what works for me. I have fine, oily hair that doesn't like to hold a curl when I want it to. I haven't had the chance to try setting lotion, but this was my routine for the Anniversary 'do:
    • wash hair, using as little shampoo as possible.
    • put in mousse.
    • blow dry until damp.
    • start pincurling: I started from the root instead of the ends; my hair ended up being way less frizzy that way. I used hairspray on each section of hair before I rolled it up.
    • I used metal clips instead of bobby pins:

Left everything in for several hours, using the blow dryer for a few seconds every once in awhile when I remembered to. And voila!

Inky: the husband was definitely surprised in a good way with his present! It's good to keep the guys on their toes every once in awhile!

I'll post my Nurse Ratchett outfit soon. I didn't have hair rats, so I couldn't do the 'do as well as I'd hoped. But it was still a fun outfit to put together!
