Josh, thank you. I have to share these notes with my younger daughter, who absolutely cringed when she saw that I wore my Chumash bead necklace to parent-teacher conferences last night.

BTW, to those that might have interest, the beads in this string are ancient Channel Island bow drilled basalt and shell beads that were made by the Chumash Indians c. 800-1500. They were collected in southern California (when it was still legal to) and strung in the 1940s.

Very interesting information and insight into the Beads....

But, do you really think this will make your younger daughter feel better?

Alan, what beautiful beads. Reminds me of my youth in SoCal, when we used to trepse onto Chumash burial grounds, burn sage, and leave bits of tobacco. The black No.1 is outstanding.
