    Another new toy...

I picked up this sporterized BSA Martini Cadet Rifle today. At some point in its life it had been re-barreled for .357 Magnum. I had it at the range today and it is a real hoot to shoot!

Nice find. I have enjoyed shooting pistol caliber carbines...a lot easier on the wallet. Will it shoot 38 special as well like other 357 magnums?

It definitely will. I was shooting it with .357 158gr semi-wadcutter loads today (and it was doing quite nicely at 100 yards), and I'm going to see if .38 Special semi-wadcutter loads will be any more or less accurate.

I suspect that was done by Navy Arms back in the '70's or 80's. I wish I'd had the cash to get one then. I've got a match Cadet right now that I need to repair the buttplate on . . . someday.

    44-40

Theres a lot to be said for a pistol caliber in a rifle! Look at Colt and Winchester 44-40.

Excellent! I'd like to find a carbine too, but the importer for this retailer here is fresh out I'm told.
Too bad. But the first place I bought one from here last week, has them on sale again this week for 80 bucks. At that price I'm compelled to get me a third. Maybe even 4. Just the collectable aspect of owning these is reason enough, and the price can't be beat.

The carbines do give a large ball of fire when shot. I've only fired two different Mosin's (neither mine) and noticed that the trigger pull was very light. Is this typical for all Mosin-Nagant's?

Mosin's tend to be very hit or miss as far as quality control during their production span. I have seen trigger pulls that range from about 4 lbs. to 12 lbs.

Here's a quick pic of my 1970's Smith & Wesson .38 Special. I love this gun. Its a pleasure to shoot.

Very nice. S&W Model 15? I had one years ago and sold it and still regret it.
