I can't comment on all the items in that set (I wish I could, but 7 grand is about what I spend on motor vehicles...), but I have a DuPont Ligne 2 lighter and it is definitely old-time luxury. Everything about it exudes quality. And, what other lighter talks to you when you open it? Ligne 2 lighters "ping" when you open them. A nice, though expensive, way to light a cigar.
I guess it's all in your perspective. I just looked at a wrist watch auction for a NOS Patik Phillepe 25J automatic, 18K gold on ebay. Nothing particularly special to my eye about it, but it has a buy it now price of $440,000!!!!!!!!
