Below is my favorite overcoat. It's British, no label, and the construction and quality point toward the 1930s. A Donegal herringbone tweed -- dig those colorful flecks! Plain back.

And here's one from a local Goodwill. From the later 1930s, I reckon. The wool has heathery variations of Fall colors, hard to pick up in the photos. It has the weight, density and slightly fuzzy texture of a horse blanket. Plain back, no half-belt.

By the way, what's the difference between an overcoat, a topcoat and a greatcoat? Are they just different names for the same thing?

I rarely go into this thrift shop, because it's picked over so much. But look what I found on my visit last week! The wool coat is in perfect condition and was $5!! The only thing I love more than the coat, is me wearing it!
