    Purple anyone?

Who knew that Black Rit Dye doesn't really dye black unless you leave it in for a really long time...

So now I have to give it a green bath and hope it goes gray like I was trying to do in the first place!

What color was the hat to start with?

It took me a while to find...but this is what it looked like.
I don't I look that good in lighter colors. So I wanted to darken it up a bit.

And yes, I've since trimmed the brim a bit.
I stopped pulling the felt over the block when I realized what the color looked like.
I'll work on it after the next dye bath.

    Could be worse

I had a girlfriend once upon a time who tried to dye her red hair black and wound up with a dark shiny green color - sort of like the Riddler's daughter - she went blonde soon after...

Actually, I don't know how it looks in person, I kind of like the purple - it could go over well in the right night club with the right suit...

I can say right here, right now, that I do not own a suit that a purple hat would go well with.
And the fact that it was purple, would bug the living hell out of me every time I put in on.

Funny, I was planning at some point on trying out dying a hat a pale lavender. I think it would go great with a grey suit/sport coat and lavender shirt.

    Cheers,

    Call it Plum.

I dunno, I think with a 2-inch black ribbon it would look pretty acceptable, and certainly not your run-of-the-mill hat!

Bear in mind that if you re-dye it with green over the purple, you could end up with a dubious shade of brown. I think it's a great color as it is - all you need is a red suit...
