Panama Bob

I came home today to find a $25 Cuenca Caballero bash on my doorstep. It's an amazing hat for the money. This is my first 'Panama' but it won't be my last. It makes me wonder how much nicer Robert's other hats are.
I think I'll get another one for my dad.

I purchased one from Bob about a month ago. I think it's a great quality
for the money. I'm loving it!

My only real complaint is that it got damp and shrunk. So, I wet it down and wore it all day yesterday and it still shrunk. Today, I dampened it around the sweat and stretched it over a bowl and left it for the day. That seemed to do it. Must get a real block.

Really, I love the hat and it has exceeded my expectations.

I am well pleased. This wide brim Montecristii was worth the wait. Art's blocking and ribbon are fantastic.



I was wondering about the little holes in 2 circles around the brim. I asked PB and he told me "That's the weaving pattern from a specific barrio in Canton Montecristi. Each barrio has their own weaving "marks", so to speak. That would be the mark of Pampa barrio."



I'll let you all count the weaves per inch. I get cross eyed trying.


Here is the backweave at the edge of the brim. Possibly the most impressive part of the weave.
