I recently purchsed my first real Panama from Bob. To be honest I am not sure of the exact name of the hat but it is almost identical to this

With Priority USPS shipping it was only about $60. It shipped the day after I ordered it and I received it 2 days later.

I think it is quite attractive and comfortable and I am very happy with the shape, the color, the fit, and the quality. It does not let a lot of breeze thru so I am looking at another style for the really hot days. Of course it was 95-100 degrees for two weeks after I received it so that may have been a factor.

    Kudos to Panama Bob.

Hi, everyone. I've been lurking here a while and just bought my first Panama Bob hat from eBay. His reputation here is certainly stellar, and he offers some great deals. I'll post a pic when I get it next week.

I just bought my first Panama Bob also, a Cuenca. It's a nice hat and a great value. No doubt I'll buy more when funds allow.

I made a mistake and went with ecuacorp, a seller on eBay, for my first panama. I paid $90 shipped for an extrafino trilby with a stingy brim, and what arrived was a grueso cuencano with a much larger brim. I'm sending it back today. Bob is sending me a much nicer hat for the money, and I already know it's going to be a beauty. Even the grueso was the nicest straw I've ever handled!

Fortunately, since the hat I purchased from Bob was one he had on clearance, it should get here in about a week (and I live in Hong Kong)! He mentioned having some good news for me and to wait until I receive the hat. That's not going to make the wait any easier.

Got my hat from Bob yesterday: exactly a week shipped to Hong Kong by First Class Mail. Looks great, and I got exactly what I knew I was getting. I did think the weave would be a litle finer on a grade 10 llano. I get 11 across and eight up for 88 WPSI. That's probably a good thing, as I'm a heavy sweater and it's very hot and humid here. I was worried about the weave being TOO tight.

I'm also glad I got a 'wicking' band. The hat's a little taller than I thought it would be and the band wrinkled right up after a five minute uphill walk (ok, it was in the 90s and humidity in the 80s), but I fixed it right up when I got home and it looks great!

With shipping, it only ran me $72, which is substantially cheaper than Ecuacorp's. I'll take pics when I get it down here. I'll definitely be taking some more panamas off Bob since they are perfect for the climate here. I know I need an Art-blocked Montecristi at some point!

Grading in Cuenca is an enigma. If it was a Montecristi with 11 across, I'd call it a grade 11.
