    German & Austrian Hutmachers

    Hello Folks,

I'm new here to the Fedora Lounge. Well, I've lurked for a couple of years, but newly registered. However, I'm not new to hats.

I've got two great Fedoras which I purchased in Munich, Germany while stationed in Germany in 1981. They were made by A. Breiter, Hutmacher am Dom, (hat maker at the Dome), founded in 1863. I've kept good care of them and they still look sharp. I'll post some photos as soon as I figure out how.

    Cheers,
    Max

Welcome! I have a couple A. Breiter brand hats and few that were sold by Breiter. They are posted back in this thread. Looking forward to the photos of your A. Breiter hats.

Looks like maker is indeed Georg Fischer out of Wien (Vienna) and exported to USA. I couldn't find anything on Georg Fischer Hutfabrik. Is the liner stitched or glued in? Also any paper label behind the sweatband? From the sweat and liner I am thinking early 60s.
    Mayserwegener,
When I pulled the sweatband down the stitching broke so now my little hat needs an expensive repair. Do you collect these hats? Would you like this one? I have no money to get it fixed so I'd rather send it to someone who can give it a better home than I could. I tried to PM you but I was told my account doesn't allow access to that page(?). Perhaps you could email me: brad@brmoroni.com

    Böhm

I received this small size brown Böhm Fedora a while back but never posted pictures. I am thinking early 60s. I only have one other Böhm in my collection.

Beautiful moderately lightweight finely finished felt. 2-3/8" raw edge brim. 1960 date on tag. 2" wide sweatband fairly thick buttery leather.
