Good job I never grow weary of posting this Holkham Hall (which is not that far from where I live) link.
I have several bowlers, mostly black but also grey and brown including some vintage. None have feathers ...in fact I do not think I can recall seeing any so adorned apart from the odd Morris dance side.
Stetsonian, Thanks for sharing your 1902 Stetson derby with us. It is amazing!
Micawber, Thanks for the Holkham Hall link. It's nice to know more of the history of how a type of headgear came to be.
The photo of the keepers is a nice bonus. I cannot post it here as it is a stamp. Perhaps you can? Will you post some photos of your bowlers here as well?

Nice nice nice old Stetson you got there! I doubt mine dates anywhere close to yours. I'll have to take some pics of it and see if anyone can guesstimate how old it is.
Great Bowler Stetsonian! Thanks for sharing! That also gives us a clue as to the age of this Stetson Logo.

But are you crazy enough to wear your bowler in public?

It ain't like the old days, but it'll do.

I wear mine out all the time. It just fits with my lifestyle.
I would demur at wearing a bowler publicly only because I think that they are a poor accompaniment for my large, round face. The only style that I would be reluctant to wear in public without some special reason is a top hat as I think that I would be hectored incessantly by curious gawkers.
