    Talking The Stetson One-Hundred "100"

Well, it’s here and is everything I hoped it would be. The fit is perfect.
As Gustave Flaubert would say: ‘Le bon Dieu est dans le detail' (God is in the details). If that is true then He must be in this Hat because the attention to detail is beyond compare.
The felt is fabulous … Firm yet supple at the same time
    Light weight for its size.
The stitching, the liner and the sweatband are exactly as they should be.
It has a 5.5” Crown and 3” brim

Sometime back, when I acquired the Shady Oak “MARLBROUGH FORTY” http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=27132
I knew I was hooked on Western Dress. Well, I figure the Stetson One-Hundred Has to be the King of the Heap, so when I saw this one and in the impossible size of 7 5/8’s I new I had to own it. (Let’s be honest, what are the odds of finding 2 Stetson One-Hundreds in size 7 5/8’s and in Top condition in the foreseeable future?? 500,000 to 1 ??)
The last 45 sec of the auction cost me an additional $140.00 (thanks Carter & Lefty ) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=018

I know that several members own a One-Hundred and I hope the can tell me a little about it’s history, Years produced or any points of interest about the hat.
    Well, here it is:

Any Info on 100's would be helpfull Thanks

Very nice hat- probably from the late '50s or early '60s, going by the paper label, which I've only seen in '60s hats and later. Because they were so expensive, and such limited production, though, it seems that the older style sweatbands stuck around years after regular production switched to black sweats.

    JimmytheLid's 100, an earlier model 100.

Mine was from the '60s, as it has the square size tag and later style liner.

    Stetson One Hundred

    Wonderful hat!!!

I'm lucky enough to own one- and they broke the mold when they made this
one- absolutely top class-congratulations!! Word of advice: ( 2 words)
    WEAR IT!!
I got lucky and scored a 7 3/8 LO- pristine-and get looks and questions every
time I wear it- mostly from non-hat folks- seems like quality crosses all lines.

    Terrific score-thanks for sharing

OK, here's my documented Stetson 100. Above, there are some photo's Dinerman kindly put on record, taken from the eBay listing at the time the hat was sold from the United Kingdom (England). I bought the hat, knowing well it would be 2 sizes too small. So, I sent it to Optimo in Chicago, to have it resized and cleaned. In resizing, the original sweatband, which was in fine shape, needed to be replaced. I of course asked the original be kept, and I keep it inside the hat, behind the "Optimo" sweatband.

Here's the pictures. The original box (in poor condition), the Optimo box I proudly keep the hat in, and the hat. Note it has got the "round" size tag, and nowhere does it sport the small "Stetson 100" imprint I've seen on other pictures. My UNeducated guess is the hat might be from the 1950's.

The description of the hat fits previous ones I've read: supple yet firm felt, not nearly as readily "pliable" as the large Nutria hat I have. Whilst I had asked Optimo to bash it in an original late 1940's "cattleman" style (like the early "Open Road" hats; which Optimo did do), I at a later stage changed it to a true fedora shape. It is definitely the best fedora I have, and I regularly wear it, even though the Stetson 20 which I call "Open Road" (which it isn't), I wear almost daily, as I particularly like the "moderate cowboy" attitude of that kind of hat.

Thumbs up Looks Great on You...

At this time, I plan to leave it in the Cattleman Style. I have a O/R royal DeLuxe and a Peters Bro"s O/R "40" that I wear as a Fedora.

Tinman (or is it ZZZ?) I have every measure of appreciation and respect for your preference to maintain the cattleman or OR style. I love that look and I may well at any later time revert my "100" to it. It's just that my "20" is just absolutely beautiful (even if "stiff") and, seen from a distance, there is no possible way to see the difference between a "100" and a "20". My "fedora" 100 is easily the best-looking fedora I have in my portfolio (this portfolio is has more emotional value than anything in the bank ), the way the crown to brim ratio is perfect (meaning: high), and knowing well that the bash can be changed "atdnshinc" at will.
Up to you guys to google "atdnshinc"
    Ya'll have a nice weekend.
    Paul
