    I have one skinny tie I bought, I don't think it's much more than an inch wide. It looks like it would hardly cover shirt buttons

    Here are two deadstock 1930s French ties, that FFF posted on the thread having spotted them as part of a batch for sale, which was purchased by HBK, and then these two were sold on to me. I am very happy with them.
    The colours on this one are most vivid:

    I know a lot of people like patterned ties, but sometimes a plain tie is perfect for an outfit:
