I smoked Troost slices in my college days, a Cavendish cured in orange peel. Mild and very flavorful. Have a nice Ben Wade free form that still has the flavor.
These days when I break out a pipe, it's something a littler stouter - 3 Noggins, or I still like to rub McBaren's Roll Cake. The only pipe I pick up anymore is a short bulldog - the type you'd see someone biting when they were driving a roadster or flying an airplane. It's a nice hands-free pipe for fly fishing, which requires both hands most of the time.

BTW, you can still get Troost slices in the pouches

    I've posted this before:

A Dr. Grabow Lark estate pipe.

It's served me well so far, though the bowl can get very hot. Is this a problem?

Still trying to repair broken bakelite pipe. Any suggestion how to make new or repair broken rim of ceramic lining?
