    J. Peterman Duster

Peterman's copy says something like I wear this coat because they don't make Deusenbergs anymore

Anyway. This just arrived today. Too cold for it here.

    Scot,
That does look good. It looks much better on than in the catalogue. Good luck with it.

I was just about to post my new J. Peterman Sport jacket in the suit section... They make great things at that company... Too bad many people don't trust the drawings. The drawings do none of their offerings justice, though that is part of the romance that is J. Peterman's trademark.

Gives off sort of that "I don't care" attitude, and that is cool. Fonzy with a duster.

    Now you need a convertible.

Now that you mention it, it does look quite a bit like the kind of duster drivers wore while driving early automobiles, as seen in "Howards End" and other period films. That jacket would look great with some aviator goggles and a driving cap. It is very versatile.

As an aside, Matt I would love to see that jacket, and I entirely agree with you that they are a great source of vintage-style clothing, mostly because they are unafraid, often, to keep the details original.

I love J Peterman products, even if my wallet (which btw is a j peterman wallet) screams at me every time I place an order. One of the jackets I wore at the QM, the one on sturday night, was a J Peterman hunting jacket, complete with belt back (w/pleats), leather patches on the elbows, and awesome pouch pockets. The material was sucha gorgeous heavy weight wool too. Of course, the armholes are still wrong, but I've yet to find a modern designer who does them right. I wonder if it's worth it to write to J Peterman and let them know? I suppose that if anybody were to do it right it would be them. Dunno though, does anyone think they're ready to buck the conventional fashion wisdom by hearkening back to a more fitted time? I mean, they don't even offer long sizes.

Bearcats! with Rod Taylor. I had forgotten that those guys often wore their dusters when cruising around in the Stutz. That show was a pretty good premise, but the execution could have been better. It was sort of a period A-Team, but with way too much of the 70s thrown in to make it really good. Rod Taylor should pulled that look off, though!

    Bearcats!

    What a sweet car, too.
