Aero Veste - Do these pics mean I can also do Stockman/Cheyenne?

    Black Veste

Here's my black Aero Veste in FQHH. It's a size 46 (fits like a 48) with 2.5 inches added to both body and sleeves. Two piece back, roll-over stitching throughout, olive green gabardine lining, two internal pistol pockets.

I found the 48 Veste too baggy all over. The 46 feels great, but I'm still wondering if the trimmer Stockman or even Cheyenne should be my next coat. The only jacket I like is the Long Half-Belt.

Also, I'd like to make the sleeves of the button type, and maybe add another inch. I do like long sleeves. I don't think these have shrunk to their final length yet. Would another inch be ridiculous? I only ask as a + 3.5 inches Veste sounds freak like in dimensions

I'll eventually copy these pics to the special thread JanSolo created for us 'Big 3' weirdos.

I thought the only difference between the Veste and the Cheyenne was body length and hand warmer pockets? This is a size 40 Cheyenne with 27.5" arms and 32" body which looks a lot like a Veste on me, which I like very much.

Lear, that is absolutely stunning fit pictures.
I think its one of the greatest fit Ive seen here.

I would leave the sleeves as they are on the next one, but if you just cant sleep
I wouldnt go more then 0.5" extra from what you have there.

Yours look great too Dav, very nice. Leather looks dynamite!

    Thanks mate

One thing I notice about the 'big 3' is how some wearers make them look like true overcoats, while others give them the appearance of lighter weight jackets.

Coincidentally, the khaki trousers in that pic were also from Aero. They were called Original Cramerton Cloth Army Khakis (or something like that).

    Button cuffs... here I come...

Hi Lear, I agree with GriffDeLaGriff...."its one of the greatest fit Ive seen here".
I ordered a Stockman with the valuable help of GriffDeLaGriff&JanSolo and I hope one look a bit like you.
    I seem be slightly waisted...yes?
    Cheers

Oops! Missed your post. Thanks for the pic Dav. I can see how similar they look. But I guess there's no substitute for actually trying it on.

Did you experience any shrinkage in the sleeve length? It seems that some do, and some don't. How much further down your wrists were they when new? That bulky jumper is probably throwing it off as well.

    Nice coat

    Hi Tito

Thanks for the kind words. No, not waisted at all. Just a standard 46 with the extra length on arms and body. That's why I wanted to know if the Stockman might be too trim for me. Remember that they are essentially coats and not jackets, so any kind of waisting could prove to be a gamble. Maybe it'll work on a slimmer framed person. I know that Ace Rimmer did this with his Veste. Aero would of course be the people to ask. Do post pics when it arrives.

Just measured the sleeves and yes they are about one inch shorter than when new plus the heavy jumper is adding to it, when worn with a shirt they do hang longer.

When I spoke to Will at aero he went to great pains to point out that the shapes of the veste and stockman are completely different, I have both and I had to have the body of the veste completely changed because it swamped me and looked like I was a kid in my dads' coat. The veste looks like it fits you perfectly,I can't see how you can improve on that, if I was you I'd just customise another one. If I ever get round to buying another aero I'm going up there to get it fitted. No mistakes that way.

If the sleeves shorten about an inch with wear, should I order my sleeves an inch longer than I desire? (I am placing a Barnstormer order very soon.)

I think it is better to err on the long side as they can always be shortened but not lengthened, thinking about it that was what Amanda said to me.
