    Sir Hugh Dowding & HA1112s

Here is an interesting photo that I ran across by accident. It's Sir Hugh Dowding during the filming of The Battle Of Britain 1969. Seems the Spanish and American pilots put on an extra special show in their Hispano HA1112s!

What a great leader of men! I do believe we owe him much more, than he got.
"There I stood at the bar, wearing a Mae West, no jacket, and beginning to leak blood from my torn boot. None of the golfers took any notice of me - after all, I wasn't a member!'

You got that right Stuffy was instrumental in the dark days of 1940. Shame he got shafted by the "cartel" after the Battle.

Although he did raise a few eyebrows at one of the Few reunions in the 1960s when he told his old charges that he was in contact with those that had fallen in 1940 - Stuffy had got heavily into spiritualism.

Nice pic Stearmen, thanks for posting!
    "Lead, they're shooting at us!"
"That's OK, they're allowed to do that."
