Foam Rollers with a hooded dryer?

Hi all! I got my hooded dryer!! (went with a babyliss ) I was going to do my alla nazimova foam curlers look for a party. My question is this; Can I use the hooded dryer on my foam rollers?

You definitely can. I would use magnetic rollers though if you are going to sit under it to let them dry all the way, simply because it will be faster. Also one of my favorite things to do if my day old hair isn't looking so good is to put some velcro rollers in it while it's dry and just sit under there for a few minutes.

Thanks for the advice! I do 20's pincurls in front, rollers in the back types of things! I am sitting under the dryer as I type! Let's hope it works out for my husband's sake, he is the one that always has to sleep beside me with a head full of metal and curlers. SEXY!!

I have a similar(ish) question - I usually sleep in sponge/foam rollers for vintage styles but it isn't incredibly comfortable and sometimes you just really want a good night of sleep.

Has anybody attempted to do a sponge roller set and then use a handheld hair dryer? I attempted it and failed miserably.

I tried that once when, in the morning, I found my hair hadn't dried completely. (I didn't leave them in long enough.) It didn't work very well at all - I don't think the hairdryer can circulate air properly around the foam rollers.

I have, Alice, but it's usually before I go to bed so I can get a headstart on the drying process while I sleep; never been to try and get them dry completely in a short amount of time. So obviously that's not the way you want to do it since you want to sleep better! I'm sure you could do it, just might take longer and your arm might get tired! I have seen attachments that you can put on your hair dryer to make it like a hooded dryer but you have to watch the temperature because you could burn your scalp. Maybe that's an option for you?

Hello!

I second the responses that a handheld hairdryer will not circulate air enough. You'll end up with dry roots and wet ends. If you still want to use sponge rollers with a handheld dryer your best bet is to dry your hair so it's almost dry, put in the rollers, then before you go to bed take out the rollers and pin the curl with grips or pincurl clips. Bit of a longwinded way but that way you'd get the curl from sponge rollers without having to sleep in them.

Also, have you tried pincurling or rag curling? Bit trickier to get the hang of but worth it if you have trouble sleeping on normal rollers,

C-dot, I think you're right about the air not circulating enough. I had a look at hair dryer attachments - wow! They look like something out of a sci-fi! Perhaps it would work for me - and they're quite inexpensive too which is a bonus Thank you Jane!

Frenchy: I've had a few attempts at pincurling. The curls are always really weak and brush out straight away, and it takes so long to do. I'd really like to practise and learn the skill, but now I'm happy with how sponge rollers turn out (and now I can do it quickly) I'm a bit less enthusiastic about learning. Hopefully I can put some time aside soon to give it a go, they certainly look sleep-able.
