    In the book, John Hammond was killed off at the end, not that he was "THE" main character, but that should have been left in the movie.

    Have that book, as well. Will get to them when I'm done with the 4 books I'm currently in the middle of.

    Just watched Syriana this weekend with George Clooney. Several main characters get offed at the end of that one.

    Bridge on the River Kwai: probably the best way to resolve the Colonel Nicholson character.

    Lawrence of Arabia: Heck, they kill him off in the opening scenes!

    Khartoum: When they are dealing with a historical character like Gordon (or Lawrence, for that matter), they really have little choice.
