The Vintage Showroom in Seven Dials has a fantastic 1939 dated British 3-piece suit. Jacket seems about a size 40, trousers probably around 36 waist. Legs seems long-ish. Brown diagonal weave fabric. Absolutely stunning. £550

Not exactly cheap. I can imagine it being rather nice, their stock tends to be good.
"I know I believe in nothing, but is my nothing."
It's an astonishing suit.
The trousers have a teens-20s style belted back waistband.

at that price i'm glad it's too big for me.
Yeah, it's a bit steep … as that store tends to be. They're much more reasonable at markets/fairs, though.

Baron, there was an excellent blue DB there last year for about £320... did you see that one ?
if i remember correctly it was Barker's of Kensington label; the only example of that shop i've seen. i was tempted but it was too short in the arm. the trousers also had a cinch back.
You know, this one might be Barker's, too. I don't remember the DB one you mention. I probably saw it though - I'm a relatively regular caller.
Mint Vintage has closed down, I see. I thought they might, as they had steep discount on all their German 30s suits at the end of last year.

i saw this suit today; it's not a Barkers, it's a tailor's label (can't remember the name unfortunately).
i thought the Barker's blue DB one from last year was a sharper suit. i think the price on this one is down to the confirmed '39 date being inscribed on the label, and maybe also the larger size.
