I’m offering for sale a beautiful Optimo fedora in medium-weight, midnight-blue felt, size 7-5/8. I photographed it in different lighting hoping to accurately capture the true color of the hat. Alas, I have failed. The hat is actually deep, dark blue, like navy blue, and is darker than any of the pictures I took. It's more like the classic weight "Dark Navy" swatch color at www.optimohats.com.
I bought this on ebay about a year ago. Like every Optimo hat I have ever handled, it is amazing. The crown is creased into a teardrop shape, but it is easy to reshape an Optimo hat however you like.
I have only worn the hat a few times and I have finally decided the high-crown, wider-brim hats don’t look right on me. Now that I have purchased a few custom hats made for me to my exact specifications, I never wear this one; that’s a shame for such gorgeous lid. So it is time for it to move on to a new home.
I’ll give it a few days here before it goes to ebay again. Price: $300 + $15 shipping (US). (A brand new hat like this would cost $595 from Optimo.)
Specs:
Size = 7-5/8
Crown height = 4-3/4” as creased, 5-3/4” (?) open (not sure I measured that right)
Hat band = Midnight-blue ribbon, 1-7/8” grosgrain, with bow, no feather
Brim = 2-5/8”, edge bound with matching midnight-blue ribbon
Sweatband is brown leather, gold embossed logo, and initials “JTI” and word “Manga”.
Liner is white satin.

As It Should Be! This is/was a beautiful hat and piece of art. If I would not have just spent a mint on a wonderful Stratoliner and Borso over the past few weeks I would have been all over this one. I'm gonna take a road trip later this summer up to Optimo to check out the shop. So far I've limited my collection to vintatge fedoras only and a couple of new models. I'm sure before long I will add a nice custom. If and when I do it will be from one of the several hat makers her on the lounge.
