    Going for a new Whippet

I am going to treat myself to a brand new Whippet. The only thing I'm worrying about is the size. Two of my favorite hats are Dobb's and the size is 73/8. They fit nice. I just bought an open road on ebay , size 73/8, and the hat is tight. I bought another Royal Stetson open road style on ebay in 71/2. The hat is a little big on me but a piece of hat tape under the brim and the hat is very comfortable. I think I will play it safe and get a 71/2.

I'm the same size as you, Dobb, halfway between a 7 3/8 and 7 1/2, and have learned thru experience and too much money spent, to get the larger of the two. in time it's likely that it'll shrink, but so will the 3/8, and will be way too small by then. And every so often they make one a bit too small, and then it's JUST RIGHT. If you get the larger, and after a few months don't like it, pm me and perhaps we can make a deal. I like the Whippet but won't pay the price for a new one.
Sam...if it's December 1941 in Casablanca, what time is it in New York? I bet they're asleep in New York...I bet they're asleep all over America.

Oh the Whippet, I remember when I could buy one for 12 bucks on eBay.
    Those days are long gone.

The in between size is a pain in more ways than one. I have wasted some money as well, and now have three hats that I can't use. So from now on I am going for 71/2. This Whippet is a fathers day gift. It will be a keeper.

Twelve bucks. What a rip off for a ten dollar hat.
