I don't know exactly what they did at that point, tbh - they may well have. Wasn't VW one of the companies that was administered by outside, Allied interests for a long time thereafter? I remember years ago when I studied IP law reading about how the Bayer TM was only returned to Germans several decades later.

RE:VW and the early post-war years, because the factory was in the British occupied zone, they had first dibs on the company. After shopping it around to various British automakers the British government passed, as did the French (who had Dr. Porsche in a French prison designing the Renault 4CV), and the Americans who, via General Motors, owned Opel; likewise Ford gave it a pass as well.

    No Aircraft!

I did say Fantasy Vehicles! So price is no object, neither is reality! I assume we are all richer then Bill Gates in this fantasy. So here's mine, a full size operational Disney Nautilus.

Better picture of (almost) the same thing. I love this shot, but it would be better with three little girls in the back seat.

I'd love this (though I'd tidy up the paintwork a little...):

Looks like a '51 Ford with a '54 Chevy grille. Pretty neat!

I hope that means paint it all black and put some hubcaps on it.
People think they are so rebellious and original, when really they are just banal, boring and dumb.

I'd take it as is, but I'd rather have the blue '38 in the background.

There are a lot of vehicles I`d love to have, but one that stands out simply for sentimental reasons is a 1966 Buick Wildcat Convertible. My dad owned one like this when I was born, I`d love to have one and show up at his house in it one day.

As a motorcycle rider I`d love to get something like this, I`ve always loved the look of a Knucklehead, of couse it would not be a daily rider, but it would be great to ride to shows.

    or this

I knew a guy that owned 1953 Panhead that he rode daily for years, he purchased it in the 1970`s it was chopped, he spent the next several years restoring it.
