    Favorite Repro 1930s dress makers?

    Hi ladies,

I know that this has probably been covered before but I thought I would ask. Any recommendations for repro 1930s dresses and perhaps also separates as well?

My wife and I have traditionally done 1950s for our vintage since its easy for me to find in my size and also my wife loves the New Look style. However, lately I've been on this 1930s kick so I've been thinking about getting my gal a dress or two from the same period.

She has a few dresses from Stop Staring and Trashy Diva already so we are somewhat familly with those brands.

    Many thanks in advance.

Have you had a look at Puttin' On The Ritz? They sell 1930s and 40s reproduction clothing, both dresses and separates. There are some very beautiful things to be found on their website.

I like Bettie Page clothing, it is hit or miss with the 30s stuff but they do have 40s items http://www.bettiepageclothing.com/ . Sometimes modcloth has great stuff but also hit or miss. Queen of Heartz also has some lovely things as does Unique vintage.

In my opinion, no one does 30s wear, separates, trousers, dresses, skirts better than Mutsumi at allureoriginalstyles. Her seams are perfect and she knows her period. Everything I have bought from her has been money well spent. She doesn't have much on the site right now as I think she takes some time off in the summer, but it should be full again by autumn. My ultra picky husband was really impressed with the sailor jeans I ordered from her.

Ladies thank you all for your recommendations! I'll pass these along to her and see what she likes.

There's a great German dressmaker at http://www.vecona.de/index.php?page=collection (I believe she is the girlfriend of the Lounge's own Flat Foot Fooey) and I think there's some 30s clothes there as well.

Thank you Drappa. Yes, she is and the 30s are her favourite right now. She also has a large collection of pattern. The clothes are custom made. So if you want something special or another color just drop her an email.

I would add Nudeedudee on Etsy to this discussion in a heartbeat http://www.nudeedudee.etsy.com She does fabulous 30s day dresses (I own several!).

She even made me a 30s style halter neck playsuit with matching skirt and belt!!

Ah ha! VintageBaroness beat me to it. I second NudeeDudee, and Allure Originals.
Also, Jitterbuggin has some cute clothes, but mostly 1940s. http://jitterbuggin.com/

The ones by Vecona are lovely! I had never heard of her.
