Anyone use pearl stick pins on their fedoras?

    Hi Folks:
I'm curious to know if anyone uses pearl hat pins? I'm thinking about adding a vintage black job to one of my *dress-up* hats.
    Best,

I have one on my Wall Street from Art. Never really gave it much thought. Looks nice though.

Did Art add it, or did you?

Tom, I use a pearl pin on my Panama/felt conversion and sometimes on a black Fedora.
    Looks elegant!

I have one on Montecrisiti and will be adding one here and there on a Fedora... It classes it up and makes a dressier looking hat IMHO... So I add when the suitability exists....

    Here is my Panama..

I have a couple of those pins, but always seem to have a problem with the pointy end.

It either sticks out of the hat and looks silly or wants to pin the hat to my head.

While pinning to my head might be an advantage on a windy day, it does make hat wearing uncomfortable and there are blood stains to deal with. Does anyone know the proper way to use these pins?
    Cheers!

The hat came with it. Never really thought to add one to a hat myself. In fact one of my older co-workers made comment on the pearl pin. Aparently they were popular with the crowd that kept the brim up all round, back in the day.
If you want a picture I can try add one, if you like.

Try peroxide on those blood stains..... on your head of course and not staining the hat....

I don't know if this is correct or not but I push the pin through the ribbon without piercing the hat and leave the pointy end between the ribbon and the hat.... seems to work for me.....

Chepstow the more I see of that conversion of yours the more I like it,,, it is hard being a fedora addict

O-Guy, thanks very much! I thought and thought about that and considered whether I should do it.
I have not looked back! Do it my friend!

I sure do. It's just a little special extra something to add some class. Like a Stratoliner pin!

I got a nice deal on plain pearl pins and hat feathers a few years ago, so any vintage felt I get that doesn't have a pin or a feather recieves one. My pins always go through the upper corner of the ribbon bow though, never through the felt. I've seen people do that and I cringe : \
