    My Dad was in grammar school in rural Ct. in the mid 30s and has told me that they let everybody go outside to see the Hindenburg pass by in the distance.

    Thank you very much for posting this. My mother as a small child and lived on a tiny family dairy farm right outside of Lakehurst. She and her father saw the Hindenburg on it's "final" approach in 1937. She said it was a beautiful thing to see flying. She said my grandfather cried when he heard it burned a little later that same day.
