Do you know the cause of the discolorations the substance? Is that larger spot a wearing away of the nap? Have you ever given it a bath in coleman fuel or naptha?

I haven't tried to clean it at all, and I have no idea what caused the stains.
The felt is fine all over: no mothing, no worn nap. Running my fingers over the spots, I detect absolutely no differences.
