    Hair control without darkening

I have frizzy hair generally, worse in humid climates.

All men's hair control products that I've tried have the horrid effect of darkening my hair. Though they control it, I quite like my light brown colour. Can anyone recommend a product that will provide control without darkening? And no one of those horrid hairsprays that leave the hair like a lump of concrete. (Tried those - not good). Preferably available in the UK.

As an example of what I mean, this man's hair was cherry blonde. This is what dreadful men's products like pomades do to your hair, if it's light in colour, but not yellow. Any colour in your hair at all, the stuff just darkens it beyond belief:

darkening effects are usually caused by some holding agent, such as those found in gels or sometimes even pomades.

How much hold do you need? If you need none - very little I'd suggest looking into the oleo-relax line by kerastace. http://www.kerastase-usa.com/_en/_us...Fc7AKgodq31Ngw

not sure what their uk site, is, but you get the idea.

That is one of the best anti frizz lines out there. Bad shampoos can often cause frizz by being to dry. So look for something that's moisturizing or oil based. i.e. kerastace oleo-relax. I'd recommend the shampoo, conditioner, and the oleo relax leave in here - (number #3) http://www.kerastase-usa.com/_en/_us...rebellious.htm

If you need more hold, i'd suggest trying a product which 'dirties' up your hair, and see if that provides enough hold i.e. - bumble and bumble grooming creme

if you still need more hold I'd cocktail it grooming creme with styling creme, or even just use styling creme straight, though you might again get a slight 'darkening effect' by using styling creme straight - http://www.bumbleandbumble.com/produ...eme/index.tmpl

pm me if you have any other questions.

Super Kawaii Mama did an awesome blog post a while back about men's pomades from Atomic Life. I wasn't finding any good ones for myself in the drugstore or beauty supply, so I ordered (I know its a raunchy name, but) the Cock Grease No X Pomade in Light, and its wonderful! It's completely clear on my light red hair, and the control is fantastic.

For more control, I imagine the Medium and Heavy ones would be just as good.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I've ordered up some of the Kerastase Oleo-Relax. Hopefully it'll do the trick. If not, cock grease here I come!

You took a little too much pleasure in typing that out. The result, I'm guessing, of too little attention paid to the proper application of formal wear- a known Morals Slackener.

I fear I did. Irresistible. I shall have to find a bow tie with an extremely rude brand name so I can write about that, too!

Many thanks for the point towards Kerastace Oleo-relax. Just the amount of extra hold my lightweight hair requires, and NO DARKENING! And not greasy. Perfect.

Baron, I've recommended it before, but it's worth mentioning again -- John Allan's Smoothe works for both the wife and I.
