It's a real shame you don't see as many old British cars on the road anymore.

Growing up in NZ in the 70s and 80s (and Miss Sis I think will remember this) and before they allowed parallel importing with Japan, I would guess that over 60% of cars on the road were British. You used to see Morris, Austin, MG, Rover, Wolesley, Jag, Riley, and so on and so on. Sadly not nearly as many now, although the ones you do see now are usually in spectacularly good nick and well looked after.

To be honest, Smithy, I mostly remember Holdens! .

But the Vintage Car Club of NZ is very active and always has been, which is encouraging, although they had alot of American cars imported 'back in the day' too. Kiwis do love their old cars, don't they? I'm just carrying on that tradition over here. He he.

I agree people are in such a rush these days. There's little time to enjoy the ride. I didn't get any toots and hoots during the morning rush hour drive (we had to leave early to get to Bromley by a certain time) but I certainly felt the pressure to get out of the way on the small hills I had to climb!

It always makes me laugh when people think they can just walk out in front of you when you’re tootling along in the old motor…… If only they knew about the brakes!

FABULOUS, congrats to Miss Sis on the new "Baby" of a sweet Austin automobile!! You lucky, lucky girl! Okay, so I'm not jealous or coveting your car, just a wee bit envious... For some of us vintage loving folks, a vintage motor is the ultimate on the large wish list.

Ben what a wonderful gift from you!

Miss Sis, you look PERFECT in it in your vintage WWII uniform!!!

How about considering naming it, "Baby"?

I had Ben adjust the brakes suitably. They were distinctly spongey at first!

I'm waiting for the car to 'reveal' it's name to me. It will come when the time is right.

Binkie, a few years ago when Foyles War was a regular feature of the television schedules over here in Blighty, I was always getting 'Honeysuckle Weeks' shouted at me, whether I was wearing a uniform or civvies.

I thought of suggesting that I could play her evil cousin - a Fifth Columnist or something! He he. I could have tried running her off the road..... .

Sorry Paddy, I name my cars myself! Like I say, it will reveal itself to me when the time is right.
