a pic of my wife and I...
Here is a photo from a wedding my wife and I were at in Palm Springs a few weeks ago. You can't see much of it, but I am wearing the early 30s black suit I bought from Art (and sadly, a modern tie which matched the groom's, but what can you do?).
The wedding was at a tiny old resort where movie stars used to vacation in the 30s and 40s. Ingleside, I think it was called. (I would have posted this in the 'vintage weddings' section, but I was afraid I would get a high-helled shoe thrown at me for being in there.) Last edited by havershaw : 09-03-2004 at 10:19 AM. |

You two look very happy and an ideal couple.
Is she also into Golden-Age retro?

Thanks, Ren!
My wife is about half as insane as I am for the Golden Age-retro thing. She almost always does her hair in a 40s/50s style, though, and she's always worn the glasses and had that kind of makeup. She's the one who actually got me into vintage clothes and all the rest, about five years ago or so. (then I took it farther than she thought would be possible, down to having to wear only vintage socks.) She's been a hairdresser for almost ten years, so doing those old-school hairstyles is something she's been into for a while. Plus...she knows I love it. |

Havershaw,
You two would have been a perfect fit for Leslie and my BIG day. Doesn't she make me look so much better? ![]() |

Women have a way of doing just that. Our wedding, in 2001, was also old-school. I don't have any of those photos scanned, though. I'll have to do that. |

MattDeckard, that was indeed a good time. I keep trying to make it back to LA. I've been there several times since, but generally in such a whirlwind that I haven't had time for visiting anyone, and that includes The Ambassador Hotel.
Hopefully I'll get back there soon. I love that town. I'll be in NYC for about two weeks in September, though, so it probably won't be until I get back, sometime. |

Nice photo Havershaw! Yes, you plan on coming back when you?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re done with NY. You know something; it was partly my Brothers fault that I got into this stuff. I already was getting into WWII AAF stuff and for a Halloween party I dressed up as a B-17 Pilot. Well, I hadn't the stuff I do today, but I did my best. Well, my Brother was a gangster and I thought that looked good. So, I started to get into that look. Now, look at me. I'm a vintage monster. LOL LOL
Root.

Havershaw,
that's a lovely picture! Your wife is very pretty and her hair is perfect, indeed! (If she's a hairdresser being into vintage hair styles for such a long time, no wonder!) You look like a very happy couple. Thank you for sharing this with us! And please, say hello to your lovely wife. With much love, Velma PS. I don't think the ladies at the vintage weddings section would throw their shoes at you for peeking in there. I can only speak for myself but I would never do soemthing like that to real gentlemen! :) |

Thanks for the kind words, Velma!
She hates that picture of herself, for some reason. I will try to post some better ones at some point (our wedding photos are pretty great). Rgearding the shoe throwing...you never can tell with dames. ![]() |

Thanks!
She is awesome. There are a lot more photos of us on my other thread, the one about the QM and the Ambassador Hotel. I would link to it, but I'm too lazy. |
