No more '60's look for me.
I think we discussed a while back that by the early 60s hats were worn smaller like yours. If only I could find the thread...

As far as narrow ties go, I don't like them nearly as small as some people do. 2.75-3" is enough for me. I tend to think they look worse in black satin, too, because of the aforementioned smoked eel effect. Just my two cents.

Ouch! Shiny suit hurts the eyes!

Bill Bellamy wore something similar on Last Comic Standing.

Anyone else think the skinny tie is kind of 1981? I seem to remember seeing The Knack and others like that wearing those.

Only by people who have no idea there was a time called 'the late-fifties/early-sixties'. (Actually the narrow tie came before the modern wide tie, dating back to the late 19th century.)

Senator Jack

Actually, ties were rather wide circa 1980.

I think it may have been more 82-86 era although posibly earlier. I seem to recall a picture of the Cars and Rick Ocasek with a skinny tie.

The memory goes first.

1980s thin ties

Here's two of my dad's '80s skinny ties.
They're 1-1/4" at the very widest.

My apologies Senator. I was born in 1978. I do know the "Mod" look you're referring to though.
