Alterations
In theory, which parts of the suit can be altered without changing the look of the suit too much, but make the suit fit you better? Shoulder width? Sleeve length? Chest?

Everything can be made smaller but not every area can be made larger. The original quality and the seam allowances will effect he available alterations. The quality of the tailor and his or her experience will dictate what can be altered. You can narrow the shoulders (Point to Point) but must recut the top collar to re-balance the coat. You can't widen the shoulder as there is no additional fabric to correct the top collar.

So if I needed to take the shoulders in say, an inch, that would be do-able, except I would need to have the alteration tailor to re-cut and sew the collar and lapel?
