Before you put it on ebay I would suggest post it in the Classifieds section of this forum to see if a fedora lounger would want it. What is its real size?

Regards,

Dan

Don't worry....

Hi to all...
great day: yesterday I've tried to stretch my vintage Borsalino (it is only 25 years old...is it vintage?).
I've sprayed it with warm water and then I've stretched it...miracle...!
Then I've sprayed the sweatband with a few of shoes stretcher...another miracle...
Then I've put the sweatband on it (I've glued it ) with a little little of glue for millinery (but I'll sew it in next time).
Then I've clean the felt with a little of denaturated alcool; I've steamed a little and reshape the crown and the brims.
For beeing the first time I've done a great work (I think!).
Today I've worm it.
The felt is very thin.
It's a great experience: it is so lightweight, so soft. I feel the sweatband very soft and "warm" not "cold" like the new Borsalino's one...that i think it's roan (sintetic)...for sure.
There is not comparison between this old Borsalino and my others 2003's Borsalino.
Now I'm looking to change my job: I would like to become a Master Hatter ...
Maybe is better for me to do my own job and only playing with my hats...yes, surely is better so.
But it fit me very good...

Best regards.
Riccardo .

re Borsalino

Riccardo , are you saying that your hat stretched out 3 sizes ? Questa no bene per tu . You should take your hat and bring it to one of the Borsalino stores near you . They will send it back to the factory in Alessandria and reblock it for you .

Well done Riccardo!
Nice to see your face

It's great to be able to find ALMOST the right hat and be ABLE to transform it into THE right hat. Bargains in the wrong size CAN be put right...

Belly...

A Size 7 1/8 to a 7 1/2 stretch. Very good. It is possible with a good felt and you started with a good felt. It should fit fine and not shrink back. I went through a few endeavors like that myself. Did the sweatband survive the stretching?
It looks good on you no matter what stretching the hat went through. Good job for sure.

Regards,

J
