1940s style work wear for men.

Hello all, my name is Ethan and I work as an assistant to a artifacts restoration director at a museum. Mostly we work in a woodshop or in the greasy environment that is providing maintenance to a Vulcan steam train from 1916. I love the style of the 1940s and I was wondering if y'all had any insight as to what would be some good outfits I could put to get her for work? Also are the Red Kap mechanic pants good 40s style pants for the money? A lot of the repro clothes I can't see myself spending $80 on just to get dirty and greasy in the garage. Thanks!
