That is a stunner! I have been looking at his site lately and might have to scrape together a few dollars and put in an order.

Has anyone seen his "cordovan" felt in person? I am intrigued but it's hard to gauge in the pictures.

If I'm not mistaken, the cordovan was the first body that Bob dyed for my hat. It's a bit lighter overall than mine, I saw a sample of the felt.

Not a Fedora eh ?? Something for the Mrs perhaps ???

Nope, I keep offering to get the Mrs a nice hat, but she's not into it - even though she looks way better in my hats than I ever will!

This one is a flat cap, I saw one that Bob had posted on his Facebook page and had to get one.

Some of the work that Bob does is just fantastic. Have you checked out his ladies hats? Way cool!

I think these hats are by far some of the nicest hats I have ever seen. Guess I am going to have to find out first hand now, what it will be like to own one.

I still think this thread should be titled the Black Sheep Flock but with so many nice hats already posted I didn't want to start another thread....

Point being, my Black Sheep hat showed up today and I think it is a beaut......

I am going to post the pics that Bob sent me for the final approval before sewing the ribbon on because they are so much better than what I could take.

Very soft felt. So soft I believe the brim just might flop in the breeze but snaps right back into shape.....

Bob ended up hand dying the ribbon for the edge binding. I don't think you could ask for anymore than that.....

He is a gentlemen that is a pleasure to deal with and that is for sure and for certain...

That's a beaut OG, I really like the pleated ribbon treatment. Bob and I have a little project in the works also.

Yeah, Bob actually dyed two bodies for my hat. I believe the first was turned into "The Shakedown" hat on his page. If my suspicions are correct, here are some daylight photos of that hat body that Bob sent me earlier on in the process. It appears more brown (ala what it looks like on his website) indoors.

Your suspicions are correct JLEE. And before I could do anything about it, the misses claimed that one.

But thats OK. It works into my "More hats for me" plan. If I give her a hat every so often, it limits her questioning me on making myself a new hat.;)

I just checked out the Black Sheep site for the first time last night, very nice. The high crown on The Traveler caught my eye.

Bob and i met at La Panier Bakery in Pike Market in downtown Seattle. We spoke for about 2 hours, it was a great time. It was Bob, his wife, my wife and i. I received my new Long hair Beaver felt. It has a brim of2 5/8 and a 6 inch crown. Natural felt, green ribbon, dark brown liner, initials. Bob named this hat, "The Copperpot".

Well, well, another box form Black Sheep arrived at my work today, it's the custom Milan I ordered from Bob a while back.

This one is based of the dimensions of my 60's Resistol OR clone, which is about 5.5" open crown and 2.5" brim, so a bit smaller than the standard open road. I really like the proportions of that hat and wanted a straw with a wider brim, as the only straw I have now is a stingy brim Stetson latte (which also happens to be a Shangtung Milan).

So this hat is another of Bob's great hand dyed colors, he calls this one "black walnut." It's a real straw Milan as well. The ribbon looks just a hair over 1/2", so a bit wider than the usual OR, but it got the standard OR treatment with the bound edge, which I for one, really like on a Milan. I know not everybody was taken with the Milan Barnstormers that RBH and Jauntyone recently got from Art, but I really dig both those and mine as well!

Apologies in advance for the cell phone pictures, but honestly my digital camera is so cheap these probably came out just as good:

Once again, I cannot say enough good things about Bob's work, his attention to detail, and his customer service. He is a pleasure to do business with.

Your new hat has a 3.5 inch brim? And why do you say that's smaller than a standard OR?
