Thanks, gents.

Do you have any information about the weight of the trouser fabrics both companies use? Corduroy and moleskin are often quite heavy, but what about the other fabrics?

Is Old Town's cavalry twill made from wool?
Darcy are very good, I have a hat and a spearpoint shirt from them when they were known as The Vintage Shirt Co.
Have you ever considered made to measure? There's a tailor in London who specialises in Men's period clothing. A pair of made to measure trousers in pure wool would cost about £130 plus p&p. Hope that helps.

What is the name of this tailor?

Sounds like Rocachas.... http://www.rocacha.com/ Salv, a Flounger from London who I don't think posts here any more, bought a lot of stuff from them and was very happy. In circles I've moved in they are best known for their zoot suits and 50s pegs. What I have seen was certainly good quality, though I don't claim the expertise to be able to pick up on any 'mistakes' in the details.

My tan High Rise Trousers were delivered today. I am very impressed with the workmanship. These are very good quality trousers. I'll post some pics later, probably next weekend. They look great with a half belt and Red Wings. I think they would go well with one of those old chore jackets, too. With a normal odd jacket, not so much.

I just got a pair of navy blue twill Old Town trousers secondhand for about $15. I'll post a full review of them tomorrow when I have daylight to photograph them in.

Here they are. I'm fairly sure they're an older version of the vauxhalls. Metal buttons throughout. I think I'm going to move the front buttons slightly, they are spaced the modern way, which is to say slightly too inboard and slightly too close to each other. D rings on the belt as opposed to the current production vintage style buckle. The cut is comfortable and flattering, though more tapered than most vintage trousers I've owned. Good and high waisted like a pair of vintage ones, but they suffer from a shorter fly than their rise warrants, which, when combined with wearing them with suspenders, is inconvenient.

Workmanship is good, and the twill is soft and comfortable.

I wonder how old they are? A couple details have changed by the looks of them. I got a pair calvary drill fabric, still going strong after two years of wear and two months of extreme construction

I just recently found out that old town is now offering wool flannel for thier trousers

on that same page is mention that Old Town are launching a new line called 'Hold Fast'. quote...

"For the last year or so we have been working with a local factory to revive the manufacture of work wear bearing the Hold Fast label. The name Hold Fast has a long heritage being a well known brand for much of the twentieth century"

... i did a bit of googling but can't find anything about the brand apart from a couple of old ads which have a different 'Hold Fast' logo to the one on their blog.

Does anyone know the fabric weight of the Tin House and cavalry twill fabrics for their high rise trousers? I've tried contacting them but Old Town is not always the most responsive...
I need trousers of at least 12oz weight duck or equivalent.

Thanks!

Chasseur, i don't have the official weight but i would guess it's 10 - 12oz.
i have a swatch of 12oz US cotton duck and the Tin House grey stout twill feels almost, but not quite, as thick but with a less stiff feel.

HBK: Thank you for the information, that is most helpful. I'll try and give them a call this week and find out exactly the weight. My past results with emailing them has been hit and miss.

I appreciate it!
