I still don't have a pair, but my thinking about them has certainly undergone a sea change. Many years ago I worked for Ross Perot's old outfit, EDS. They had a strict dress code, requiring suits and hard sole shoes. At that time I associated wingtips with people trying to be as corporate and Wall Street as possible. In other words, TOTALLY negative.
When I found out that they were really called brogues, and that they were worn in moors and bosky dells, and that the little holes were meant to let the water drain out more easily, I changed my mind. I still sort of have the old reaction when I see them worn with a dark business suit. But when I see them with more traditional "country dress", they seem totally right.
