If anyone with a big head wants a decent Monticristi, call Mike at Northwest hats. I bought a body off of etsy that I thought was smaller than it turned out to be. It could easily fit a 7 7/8ths head. Also it has lots of brim and crown that would make a great Plantation style Panama. There was no way it would work for me so I gave it to Mike.

Hats
by Erica Jong

A world of hats
& homicides––
old New York––
children playing hopscotch,
painters clinging
like acrobats
to bridges being built––
murder photos
where even the dead
wear hats––
everyone in hats!

Peaked caps on workers,
bowlers on bankers,
top hats on plutocrats––
hats everywhere
denoting class––
hats, hats, hats!

Which we have tossed
like sumptuary laws
& yet kept
somewhere secret.

You can tell a king
without his purple,
ermine or crown.

The world of hats
lives on
in old photographs
& in our hearts.
We still style & file
each other
by cloak, by watch, by ring.
Hatted heads we wear
above our
nakedness.
