It's Not Straw!

My latest Ebay hat arrived. I took the plunge from only wearing straw hats during the summer to being willing to bid up this gray felt fedora. Now i just need to get up the courage to actually wear it outside where people i know may see me and ask silly questions about my religious convictions. :p

Here it is, sitting on its box:

A front view:

And a sort of side view:

Here's the inside:

And me, wearing it:

And trying to see if a gray hat can go with a gray suit... oh wait and a gray shirt, hrm...

I also don't know what exactly the labeling written in it means, when it may be from, etc. Any ideas?

That is a very nice hat. If I had to guess I'd say late 40s to
early 50s. Guild edge? As you probably know, the model name
("Twenty") means it cost $20 in those days, which was at least
twice what a regular hat cost around then. A very fine hat.

I think you'll find that your eye will take a bit of time to
get used to the big crown and wide brim. Then suddenly
it'll look fine to you. And it will look good to most people
when they see it on you. Classic proportions that we don't
see enough of these days.

Congrats.

$20 in 1948, according to the Dept of Labor website, would equal $167.47 today. Interesting...

Oh, and great hat, by the way!

Dobbs does it again.

Just remember after any convictions, you always make an appeal.

I like that Dobbs, I love the whole construction and style, it is superb.

Wear it in good health and any remarks means they're jealous!

Sincerely!

Nice hat! I've never had a negative comment when I wear my hats (at least not to my face). I think you have to go out in the world with confidence, and once people see that, they respect it.
