Greetings to the members of the forum, I am a newbee here. I am from Belarus and English is not my native language, so I am sorry for my grammar.
Recently I have obtained an original N-1 deck jacket. It is of September 1944 contract.
Could someone explain the meaning of the back stencils of that jacket? Thanks beforehand.

Hi Arcturus and welcome!

The top stencil is just the owner's name and initials.

I would have thought the second label was a ship designation, but there is no FL in the list of designations that I can find.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_hull_classifications

It may be something more of a division designation. I was not Navy, so I'm unfamiliar with how they work, but I have seen such things on "float coats" and the like previously.

Duh,

I was reading the bottom word as "FL46" when I guess it says "Flag".

Maybe assigned to the "Flag Bridge" where the admiral hangs his hat or perhaps a signal man, if they refer to signal men as such since they historically hoisted the signal flags.

Just two possibilities.
