  1. Scoota car!

Taking a cue from the side panel lettering, I found the following in the search engine:

"The Rytecraft Scootacar was a British microcar built by the British Motorboat Manufacturing Company in London between 1934 and 1940. The company later changed its name to BMB Engineering. It is possible that some might have been assembled after 1945.”

There are still two or three of these around town. One is an insurance office and the others are used car lots.

Excuse the jaggy photo crop from Google Street View.

Our remaining example was a car lot, but has just reopened as a jerk shop. My wife was kind enough to explain to me what that was.
It is Jamaican food, not a place to rent a rude companion.

  7. Reminds me of the jackets they wore in the Bogey/George Raft movie, "They Drive by Night".

  9. Think there's any neon on the "Bowl" or "Coffee Shop" sign? Looks like the "Bowl" part might - if not, it (and the "Coffee Shop") should have it.

The oddly common all-white uniform to work with grease. And dandy boy there with his belted-back jacket and spectators had better be careful or his white trousers will get dirty.

Most photos of gas stations where mechanics are at work are promotional.
Some do capture "on the job" activity.

Photos of customers by the gas pumps
can be promo shots and also they are
    photos taken by the customer.

I love the photos of folks posing with their cars whether at the gas stations
at home in the driveway or at a favorite
They are mostly dressed in their Sunday's best going to some special
    event or vacation.
They took pride posing next to their
My folks used to do that.
