Okay. I used to work in the custom car biz. I'm used to hearing that a complete resto costs above $100k, that just the time and materials it takes to do a ground up job ... I get it. These prices are nuts but the P-Wagons sure are pretty ... of course if you can sell one or two a year you might be able to stay in business.

Those things are awesome! I'd love to get hold of one, but for that kind of $$ I'd be scared to use it properly.

Yeah, they are pretty sweet. My buddy had one for a spell. Good times.

Dale, isn't it a shame? A lot of older vehicles have appreciated so much, they are unattainable. Sad.

It used to be that if you wanted a cherry resto you paid through the nose to have one done for you ... or you did it yourself, though that was rarely as much of a savings as many convinced themselves it would be. Often people ended up immediately doing stuff over because they were learning on the job or they were good at one thing, say upholstery, but not good at engines, so they hired that part out. Today that appreciation thing in old cars is out of control and you don't have to lose your shirt when you sell. It used to be the guy who paid to do the work nearly always took a bath and the next owner got a deal ... but now ...

These P-Wagons are true resto mods, with new tech liberally added. The guy who really pioneered that in 4x4s was ex child actor Johnathan Ward at TLC, he did Classic Land Cruisers so wonderfully that I believe he did the restos for the Toyota Museum and he did some excellent upgrades, virtually anything you wanted. I suspect that friends in Hollywood gave him an affluent market for his amazing work ... not pretend or superficial rebuilds, his top of the line product was astounding.

Now he creates a brand called Icon, they do killer, short run productions of various cool old vehicles, Jeeps, Broncos, etc. My favorite of his ideas is the Derelict concept ...

Rusty piece of junk on the outside complete with goofy looking scrapyard custom touches but all new engine trans A/C frame and brakes under the skin. Supposedly drives like a Chrysler 300. I've seen them on the street in my neighborhood, I think he used to live a couple of blocks away.
