Photo of my 10 year old Avirex A-2, horsehide jacket. (don't laugh) this is more of a test as this is my first attempt at posting a photo. I want to be ready when my Aero finaly arrives.

Avirex A2 styled jacket

First post - not sure if there's an intro area like some forums have (I had a quick look) but here's my recently acquired Avirex A2-inspired jacket. I have learned a lot from the site about WW2 pilot styled leather jackets, so thanks for the info and great jackets you've all posted.

An ANJ-3 is on the bucket list and I have a black generic G1 facsimile but I really liked the wear on this one. IRL it's slightly browner; the knits are original, I believe, but they're in excellent condition. It's very supple and nicely worn in - the seller thought it was from the late 80's.
It fits me like it was made for me, which was a relief as it was an Ebay purchase.

The rear has a vertical seam down the middle, (no bi-swings) and it had a really awful embroidered eagle on the lower left rear. I took a punt that the leather under it would be damaged but repairable; and hoped it would be something interesting like a bullet hole. Turns out it there were 3 cuts under there (jealous girlfriend maybe?) which I have managed to repair so they are almost invisible.

So, it's not a genuine A2; the handwarmer pockets aren't invisible like I would have preferred, and I didn't really want epaulettes, but I'm really pleased with the patina and I wear it every chance I get.

I really wish this beauty was my patina to showcase, but $1500 was just too steep for my taste. That said they do not come much more amazing than this civvie A1!

I'm sure it's premature to call this patina, but anyway here are some update shots on my Rainbow Country after 6 months or so...

Thanks guys. I'm really happy with this jacket. Perhaps I'm most enamored of the color. The red brown has a really nice pop to it.
Couple more pics of the hide.

That is an absolutely beautiful jacket with exceptionally clean look. Doesn't get much better than what was just shown. :thumb:

Thanks guys.

Not a great pic, but here is one of me wearing it yesterday while doing my co-pilot duties.
