5 5/8, I'm quite sure. No idea why we have half blocks... ?? nor why we have this odd white manufacturing label. I guess as with the universe, we only know the tip of the iceberg!

I picked up my first derby a couple of months back. A black Stetson 'Featherweight' with vent holes and tip sticker, taped sweat.

Looks like the block number is one I didn't see on the list. 292 block, 5 depth written in blue ink on the label.

If I can find my camera I'll try to get some photos on the the thread.

Its very interesting because I've seen these exact white reorder tags on several old Stetson longhairs. Did Stetson ever import their long hair bodies from Austria? There has to be a reason that many of the old long hairs have this specific tag verses the standard red Stetson reorder tag.

Intriguing guess!... though they certainly had a busy furry Nutria business going on in their western hat line. I have a few and all have the regular red labels. Hmmm.

Nice featherweight derby, Mystic. I have a premier quality Stetson featherweight - lightest derby in my collection. With round sticker, I would guess 1920s - 1930.

Stetson Unknown Model

Can anyone here help me ID when this Stetson was made. It has a 2" brim with underwent, 5 1/2" open crown, 2" grosgrain ribbon, Celanese yarn liner and unreeded leather sweatband. I assume the block number is 102. There is also the number 519 which is handwritten on a small tag along with the hat size 7 1/4. No idea what this number would mean. Is anyone familiar with block 102? The felt on the hat is very dense and the leather sweatband is made of high quality leather which is very soft. I think the hat is actually older then it looks.

Has anyone else had a Stetson with Block 102? I was thinking the hat could possibly be from the 30s with the small brim. I don't know if Stetson was making smaller brim hats in the late 40s, plus the unreeded sweatband! I've lookedat old Stetson ads and can't find a hat that looks like this.
