I was poking around in my long deceased Grandfather's old Dobbs boxes that my mother uses for decoration and was pleasantly surprised to have found a well fitting charcoal homburg I'd had forgotten hand been there! I've decided to start wearing it. It's in immaculate condition, practically like new save for a white stain on the front of the ribbon and the fact that the bash in the crown could use a reshaping to make it stay. The box is definitely worn, but at least its contents are fine. I've no idea the age, though I suspect '60s-ish. That estimate would match the age of my Grandfather's Dobbs stingy brim hat, which my cousin who is appropriately a jazz musician, owns.

Also found with the hat was my grandfather's vintage folding measuring stick:

I was waiting to post this until I could get some pics in sunshine. A Dobbs West Twenty-Five, that was in need of a cleaning and some love.

The liner was glued in with a heavy hand at some point in it's life, and the factory sticker is mostly gone. The liner logo is embroidered, but oddly the onionskin liner tip cover is on the back side.

The thick leather sweat is in good shape, but the stamping is worn.

Crown 5 1/2" open, brim 2 5/8".155g. Thinking it's around the very end of the fifties into early sixties, but really that's just a guess. Any input welcome.

This hat is a soft handed long hair finish. the brim edge is finished with darker brown felt making up a Cavanagh edge. The hat came with a box (i assume original), and it had two invoices from the Salyer Candy Co. tucked away. The hat and invoices are both from Johnson City, TN

That's unique. Certainly a lot of effort went into that one.

Nicer in your pics than the eBay ones for sure!
If memory serves ne right, the gold ink-free debossed sweatband logo puts it pre 1950.

I believe you are correct. The other example I saw was from around 47, and this one is identical minus coloration

You and me both!!
