Tweed Suit Advice

Good Morning!

While I've been a long time lurker on here, I figured it's time I start posting.

I'm a big fan of tweed, and I'd like to potentially look into getting a tweed 3 piece. It'd be for use in my wedding with the intent of continuing to wear it for the years after. I'm stationed in Idaho and am a young officer, so bespoke really isn't in the budget, and we don't have world class off the rack stores here either. Does anyone have suggestions for a good quality affordable 3 piece tweed suit that can be ordered online? I'll just have my tailor make the alterations necessary once it gets here, so it has to be of sufficient quality to allow for that. Thanks!!

Thanks for the reply Metatron! I'll keep that in mind. I've been eyeing a number of vintage pieces as well, there seems to be a real bargain there.

While, right now, they still only have their summer stuff up, J.Peterman (http://www.jpeterman.com) usually has a pretty classic three piece tweed herringbone suit for the fall / winter that is not insanely priced. My guess is their fall / winter stuff will start to show up in the next several weeks.

Also, while I know nothing about this store, they seem to possibly have what you are looking for:

Good luck.

You might also keep an eye on Cordings (http://www.cordings.co.uk/). The prices are cheaper than bespoke, but still not dirt cheap. But they have a range of different tweed fabrics, and a variety of different makeups. In terms of vintage, keep an eye on ebay, and check sellers on Etsy. I know Briar Vintage has a couple vintage tweeds for sale in their Etsy store at present. You might also get in touch with Benny Reese of Reese's Vintage Pieces. He isn't offering any tweed in his Etsy store currently, but he has an expansive collection of men's suits, and may have what you are looking for. Oh, there is also Savvy Row (http://www.savvyrow.co.uk/) a British online store that generally has a number of vintage tweed suits and sport coats on offer.

Also, there's Walkerslater.com. I've been a fan for awhile, and right now the exchange rate is truly spectacular. Very nice tweeds.

If you do a search for Harris Tweed Blazers online it can bring up some interesting websites from the UK. Ebay also has a few links to UK "tweed" sellers.

Another idea is to do an internet search for Irish Tweed Cap. It will lead you to makers of Irish Tweed Products.

I have seen blazer/vest combos on those websites but never the pants to go with it. Just the thought of tweed suit pants makes me itch !
