I did it! I got my hair cut into a middy. Now to figure the best way to style it. My hairdresses did some pincurls and had me sit under the dryer. They didn't turn out the best. She hadn't done them since beauty school. I was going to try to save them but. they have mostly fallen out with the rain and what not. I hope I can get my hair to look good and not like I'm trying to hard - or not trying at all! lol

I found that it made it so much easier to set my hair, and get the shape just right! I'm sure that you will love it. Styling is also so much easier. How long are your layers?

Middy Hair Cut Pictures

Here are my before and after pictures of my Middy. My layers are 6 inches and shorter. I'm still trying to find the best way to style it. I used hot rollers in the picture. I think next hair cut I'll go a little shorter.

I'm getting a free haircut next week in exchange for allowing my hairdresser to use me as an updo model for her new vintage styling service (she has no idea how unphotogenic I am yet, eeks!) so I'm going to get the middy done.

I've been cutting it myself following CDot's fabulous tute for a few months now but I haven't actually had a professional cut in over a year and it needs it.

Yay for free stuff.

Pah! Unphotogenic! Your a doll face! But hurrah for free stuff nonetheless. I went for a middy cut the other day, but my hairdresser didn't think it would suit me so i have a shoulder length cut with some layers and the back rounded off, he also sent me home with my hair in pincurls, after showing me a good set pattern for me! So now i have good hair!! I just have to work on the rest of my life now!!;)

Well.... Poop. That's not it.

Sigh. I took diagrams, your comments, photos, even CDot's tutorial explanation. She cut away and said she understood it. :eusa_doh: I went from Bettie Page-straight length hair...

To this. While it's very good for what it is, it is DECIDEDLY NOT a middy. I'm really rather tweaked, even though my mom says it's cute. I may have a little wave when it's shorter like this, but I can't for the life of me figure out what to do with it now that it's precisely the wrong kind of layers for any decent curling. And worse, those bits above my ears are going to turn into horrid Farrah Fawcett wings, I just know it. (sorry, not a retro hairstyle I find attractive.) Anyone else have disaster cuts that were expensive? Unfortunately, I'm stuck because you can't make it longer again. *weeps*

MissElainey, I'm with ZombieGirl. I think you could do some really adorable things with that cut! When mine is that short, I get the Farrah Fawcett thing too, but it is so easy to do cute little rolls.

Does any one know of a hairstylist in the Twin Cities (or surrounding, I'll drive to Hudson for a good haircut!) that knows vintage hair cuts? I've not cut my hair for a year, and I'm terrified of having it turn out horribly.

Hello fellow Minnesotan! Can't help you with a hairdress (I'm from the wrong part of the state) but I'm always glad to see another Minnesota girl among us!

My hair dresser had never heard of a middy but I brought in a diagram and she did it now problem she is also good at color if you want to PM me I can give you her name the salon she is at. If you know any guys looking for a good vintage cut my husband is an excellent barber and works with a lot of local guys with vintage look.

Thank you x 10!
Unfortunately I don't have enough posts for PMs at the mo, as soon as I do, I will.

Also, HI ZOMBIEGIRL!! I love seeing other people from my state too...it's a pride thing. :D

I had my middy cut this week and blogged about it (see sig). I've got pincurls in at the moment and am nervously waiting for them to dry before brushing out! Eek.
