Quite an amazing and lucky find, Dan'l.

Thanks Al! Great looking hats and scenery coming from you up north!

alanfgag- The inside is very clean including the black leather sweat band. There is no lining, is that common? I tried to take a photo of the inside but the picture quality was horrible.

I don't know much about the Stetson Open Road hats. Was this style very common? I've seen several photos with men wearing the style, or a similar style.
I thought it was the Open Road style but had to do a internet check to make sure. ;)

It was certainly a successful style for Stetson - it was featured in some form by almost all the other major brands too. A black sweatband (if original) would probably indicate a more recent (seventies or later) hat and a liner was most likely present at birth. Pictures of the sweatband logo imprint can help to confirm. The proportions, flat brim and fit all look very good on you. A great find... enjoy it!

Alan: Thanks, you are much too kind! That shadow is our son Ryan. Had to get off the trail and scramble over some ice covered terrain to get this shot, so my 'usual' photographer was replaced.

Alex: Appreciate your nice remarks very much. It will take me some time to sort through all of the photos we took up north, but I will post them eventually.

Josh: My sincere thanks for your very kind comments!

Today Im wearing a new hat that I picked up this weekend. I bought it on ebay, but it was a local seller, so I just picked it up at her antique shop. The color is very hard to take pictures of, but it looks very similar to JTL's Melton. The felt is a greyish/blue with Lavender undertones/overtones. I love the light blue brim binding. This hat is very cool. I had to do a fair share of cleaning, steaming, and shaping. There are more pictures coming up in the "ADAM ALLEY."

+3.

Tell us about the inside. The only hat I have with that pin is a Stetson 100.

good fishing!

You had me thinking there, for a minute. Fortunately, ebay kept me from thinking too much. I ran "stetson" and "jbs pin" and got quite a few less-than-100 results.

Still, what does it say on that sweat?

Delectans - I love the second shot.

Josh - I'd love to see an outdoor shot of that hat. It looks great.

Thanks delectans & Alex.

This is our favorite local walk, we get out there several times a week, especially now it is getting lighter in the evenings. This park is just a fantastic resource right in the city - 5 minutes from our house.

The wind trolly saved my hat twice the next day, it was really windy. I'm thinking I should have asked Art to put a wind cord on the hat he's shipping to me.

Alex, thanks for the comment on the swoopy brim. Since Lefty says only about one in ten million people look good with these, I'm hoping I'm that one guy!! :D
