Just finished transcribing a set of acetates of a 20 minute snippet of "Un Ballo in Mascera", Met performance in San Fransisco with Jussi Bjoerling and Elizabeth Rethberg in hot competition. Oct. 23, 1940. Really fine audio quality, save for a couple of skips, and one disc which was slipping a bit on the turntable, but those little flaws can be easily fixed with my sound processor. Otherwise these discs have no wear, were recorded at 78 RPM, and have clear, crisp highs. This performance is a PIPPIN!

Earlier today we were listening to the famous Diseause Ruth Draper reciting her famous tales "In An Italian Church", "Diets and Doctors", "The Children's Party", and "The Italian Lesson".

Ian Whitcomb -- I Still Get A Thrill (Thinking Of You)

I met you, I loved you
The world was mine
It seemed too good to last
You left me so lonely
The sun won't shine
I still live in the past

Because I still get a thrill
Thinking of you
And I still feel your lips
Kissing me too
Although our love affair
Wasn't to be
I wonder if you care
Care about me?

I still remember that night
Under the moon
I recall that it all ended too soon
I can't believe you're gone
Memories linger on
Cause I still get a thrill
Thinking of you

Powerful passionate lyrics this song...

No me digas que
acabamos de comprender
que lo nuestro llego a su final
que sin mi tu puedes continuar
Te veo venir soledad
Y no me digas que
no merezco lo que recibí
y que yo nunca te comprendí
pero, cuanto esperabas de mi?
Te veo venir soledad
Que las noches no tienen final
que la vida sin tu no me vale de na'
otro golpe para el corazón
que dejaste tirado aqui en este rincón
Te veo venir soledad
Y no me digas que
que algun dia tal vez volverás
por ahora no hay nada que hablar
muchas cosas, si, para olvidar
Te veo venir soledad
Yo no te olvidaré
