After playing grim reaper this morning, I stopped by the chateau for casualization.

While it wasn't on my mind at the time, I suspect that I subconsciously chose this one because of that fantastic Tonak that @mayserwegener hit us with yesterday. Must've made me envious...

It's a 1930s Dobbs. A very kind gentleman in Missouri entrusted it and two other of his late father's hats (the teal Game Bird & a Knapp-Felt derby) to me. I will forever be honored by that gesture.

That green beauty is killer!
This No.1 Quality is so comfortable and fits my personality and disposition so well that I think I'll just leave it on for a few days

What a Gorgeously GRAND Green, Matt!! I agree, you should be proud to be entrusted with that one. MAN!!!
Thanks Charlie. Fantastic Stetson. May your health return to the kind befitting "Royal"ty as soon as possible.

I'm speechless...
Thanks Perry. I assure you that whenever I pick it up, I am speechless too!

...knocks the wind right out of me.
Thanks Alan. That's what happens to me when I see the vast majority of your hats! Simply put: there just is nothing in the world like a beautiful old hat.

damn dude

Thanks Ant. And yeah... that No. 1 is perfect for you and it's a beautiful hat to boot.

Have you been holding back...?

Thanks, Bob. And no way, man! I've posted it a few times before.

Some fantastic lids being posted here!

Today, I was wearing a Slouch hat that was thoughtfully sent to me by a Aussie friend on a tool discussion forum to which I belong. It was a size 59 and I take something between 60-61, but I was able to stretch it to my size without any problems with some patience.

I re-bashed it as an experiment and wear it while working outdoors.

Here it is shortly after I received it...

Need further work, but I think I am liking it. The extra insulation space at least is good today. And a whole lot of Woolrich gear to accompany.

Great hat and sweater combo again Perry. You are the king.

Thank you for your comments Cindy and Matt and for the likes for yesterday's photo. I've not been feeling like myself for a while and I've drifted out of touch with day to day hat adventures. Here is a simple little old furry number sold at Saks maybe ninety years ago. I think I will bring it with me on a trip to the city next week.

Looks so soft and warm. Such a beautiful old example of early century Stetson quality.

Hey all!
The wet and gusty has returned. This calls for a snug lid with low wind resistance. Like this early 60s Stetson Twenty Five. Beautiful felt, just not a lot of it with it's slim 1 7/8" brim and low crown. Still has style and plays well with umbrellas.

I thought it interesting that there is no mention of the felted edge on the sweatband.
Have a great day!

Matt, Blue... thank you for the thoughts. I am much better. And I've recently discovered the mute button on my TV. The person who invited that should get the Nobel prize for medicine.

Or for peace, Alan! We're all here for you, my friend. We're all in this together, I suppose. "Together" being the operative... somehow. Be well, zie gezundt!
