Good to see that you are still upright and well hatted Johnny! Great brim on that Aussie!

Hey all!
Saw Michael A.'s nice cheerful blue ribbon and thought I'd add to the blueness with my own.
Stetson 3X Beaver Quality Mode Edge, made right around 1950. Ribbon added much more recently.:)

Such a beautiful blue to go with that felt. I tip my hat to this effort. Nice.

7-5/8 IS a tough-to-find size. Here's a 7-3/4 1940s Royal Stetson on this overcast Monday...

It sure is a stunning example of what can be found in the upper ranges. Love it Charlie!

I wore a hard hat today while I removed downed trees. The prior two days I wore the same old Scala "Panama" (my wife a Cripple Creek Hat Co.) that we dressed up with newly purchased beaded hat bands from the local craft fair.

Taking my mom out for a stroll in her wheelchair and wearing a cap she must have bought in the early seventies from a well known Barcelona fashion store called GALES ( 1943-1995). It's a wonderful pattern and I will try to make a copy. It seems to be reinforced with light buckram.

New vintage acquisition! A never worn Champ ventilated Featherweight Kasmir finish brim. In a Metal Blue with box from a local Antique shop.

Can somebody give me any info regarding possible decade based on the pictures?

That's excellent.

I'll defer to the more experienced members, but I'd say you have a mid-1950s example. There are a series of ads from 1953 and 1954 for Champ Lightweights that match the logo on the box and mention both Kasmir and Metal Blue.

Wow! One of the most unique Champs I've seen. Unreeded, ventilated sweat, no liner and pristine. Have you "carefully" looked behind the sweat for any clues, reorder tags and such? The price tag makes me think 40's.

Here is a 1947 Champ ad.

Looks great Moe. Did you dye that ribbon yourself?

Great vintage cap Cristina. Looks like you and your mother were enjoying the outing. Good luck on replicating the cap. It's got a lot of style.

Wow! That ribbon work is astounding. A real statement for that hat. Did you do this?
Thanks Red. Yes, I did the ribbon. Some vintage rayon cotton blend grosgrain. I am aiming toward converting the felt to a fedora look, but at the moment I'm liking it as a western. I should probably tighten up my temporary sewing on the ribbon if I'm going to wear it this way for the summer.

Thanks all,
Michael
